Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, speaking from the “Adem Jashari” barracks in Pristina on the 28th anniversary of the KLA Epic, stated that the people possess the KLA, and the KLA possesses its epic, built around armed resistance.

“In the modern history of Kosovo, the KLA Epic represents the tradition through which we refer to the most complete and decisive events in the Albanian struggle for freedom in Kosovo throughout the 20th century. The people have the KLA, and the KLA has its epic, which arose around armed resistance and the sacrifice of the Jashari family on March 5, 6, and 7, 1998—a remarkable event exemplifying the power of resilience born from courage and the willingness to sacrifice everything for freedom,” he said.

Kurti highlighted that the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) now aligns with NATO forces, noting that the parade of Kosovo Army formations is precisely as legendary Commander Adem Jashari might have dreamed, back when Kosovo’s army was merely an idea and scarcely believed in.

“Today, the KSF aligns with NATO armies, deploying missions that build and maintain peace around the world. And all of this has happened, esteemed participants, and continues to happen, under orders issued from a military barracks named ‘Adem Jashari,’ here where we have gathered on March 5, 2026, at the start of the KLA Epic commemoration, to honor and remember the resistance of Commander Adem Jashari and his family.

Before us stand the formations of the Kosovo Army, just as Adem Jashari must have dreamed them, at a time when Kosovo’s army was nothing more than an idea believed in by very few. In front of them stand all of us—citizens and state officials—who daily witness the growth, development, and advancement of the Kosovo Army. This progress is the result of the government’s multi-million investment in equipment, weapon systems, training, and education of our soldiers in the finest NATO academies, as well as the development of the KSF’s organizational structure and infrastructure,” Kurti said.
