Xhelal Sveçla Meets EU Official at Salzburg Forum to Discuss Security and Crime-Fighting

Xhelal Sveçla, Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, met with Olivier Onidi, Deputy Director-General for Home Affairs at the European Commission, on the sidelines of the Salzburg Forum in Hungary.

During the meeting, Sveçla outlined the priorities of the Government of Kosovo and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, focusing on:

  • Combating organized crime
  • Strengthening the rule of law
  • Enhancing border security and public safety

“I informed Mr. Onidi about the priorities of the Government of Kosovo and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with special emphasis on fighting organized crime, reinforcing the rule of law, and improving border and public security,” Sveçla wrote on Facebook.

The discussion also covered the importance of deepening cooperation between Kosovo institutions and European partners, including EU agencies such as Frontex and Europol. Both sides agreed to intensify collaboration to contribute jointly to regional and wider security.
