Aleksandar Vučić commented on Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani’s participation in the Peace Board established by former U.S. President Donald Trump, telling Süddeutsche Zeitung that she appeared “like a star,” which he said was unexpected from the Trump administration.

Vučić expressed disappointment that Washington did not respond “more decisively” to the policies of the Kosovo government.

“I hope for a firmer stance against the regime of Prime Minister Albin Kurti… They are provoking all Serbs in Kosovo, and there is also the so-called Peace Board where President Vjosa Osmani shines as a star. We did not expect this from the Trump administration,” Vučić said.

He also denied claims of excessive force against protesting students, alleging that violence was directed at the police.

Asked if he would support enjoying EU single market advantages without pressure to uphold rule of law and democratization, Vučić said that such pressure must remain:

“They must always be able to say – you are not good enough.”
