Albania has expressed strong support for Kuwait amid escalating military tensions in the Middle East, condemning recent attacks attributed to Iran.
Ferit Hoxha held a phone conversation with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, during which he conveyed Tirana’s full solidarity with Kuwait.
In a public message shared on the platform X, Hoxha described the Iranian campaign of attacks as a clear violation of international law, stating that it directly undermines Kuwait’s sovereignty and poses a serious threat to regional and global peace.
Diplomatic Steps at the United Nations
In response to the crisis, the Albanian foreign minister announced that the country will take concrete diplomatic steps on the international stage. Albania plans to act as a co-sponsor of a draft resolution at the United Nations Security Council.
The proposed resolution, initially submitted by members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, condemns attacks allegedly carried out by Iran not only against Kuwait but also against several other countries in the region.
The document calls for the immediate cessation of hostilities targeting Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.
Security of Albanian Citizens in Kuwait
Another key topic of discussion between the two ministers was the safety of Albanian citizens living and working in Kuwait.
During the conversation, Hoxha expressed deep gratitude to Kuwaiti authorities for the measures taken to protect the Albanian community during the current tensions.
“I expressed our sincere gratitude to the Kuwaiti authorities for the exceptional care and support shown to Albanian citizens in Kuwait during these challenging moments,” Hoxha said.
The Albanian government emphasized that close bilateral cooperation and diplomatic coordination remain crucial in ensuring the safety of citizens abroad and maintaining stability during the ongoing regional crisis.
