The tender for the new commercial port in Porto Romano has been canceled after the only remaining company in the race failed to submit its financial bid by the March 9 deadline.

The procedure came amid criticism from the American Chamber of Commerce and concerns over potential financing from Russia.

The company Archirodon, the sole participant in the final stage, did not provide its financial offer for the project, which was estimated at around €400 million and aimed to build a new commercial port in the Porto Romano area.

The cancellation leaves open the possibility of restarting the tender process and including new participants, while Albanian authorities have not announced a new timeline for reopening the tender.
