U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is now “fully open and ready for business,” following confirmation from Iran regarding the resumption of maritime activity in the vital shipping corridor.

In a follow-up statement posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump emphasized that while the strait is open to global trade, U.S. restrictions targeting Iranian ports will remain in place.

“However, the naval blockade will remain in full force with respect to Iran, at least until our transaction with Iran is 100 percent complete,” Trump stated, signaling that ongoing negotiations between the two sides are nearing conclusion.

He added that the process is expected to move quickly, noting that “most points have already been negotiated,” suggesting progress toward a potential agreement between Washington and Tehran.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical petroleum transit routes, with a significant portion of global oil shipments passing through it daily. Any disruption or reopening of the corridor carries major implications for international energy markets and regional stability.

Despite the reopening, the continuation of U.S. measures against Iran highlights ongoing geopolitical tensions and underscores the conditional nature of the current arrangement, pending the finalization of a broader agreement.
