The Democratic Party’s protest in Tirana concluded late Friday evening, with opposition leader Sali Berisha announcing that a larger and more powerful demonstration will follow in the coming days.
Delivering the closing remarks, Berisha sharply criticized the State Police, alleging that both opposition lawmakers and protesters were injured during the clashes.
He accused senior police officials of acting unlawfully, describing their conduct as criminal and politically motivated. Berisha further claimed that law enforcement used stun grenades during the protest and alleged that Molotov cocktails were thrown in a manner intended to implicate demonstrators.
The opposition leader reiterated his accusations against the government, linking police actions to Prime Minister Edi Rama, and vowed that protests would continue.
“Another protest will be held very soon,” Berisha said, signaling continued political tensions in the country.
Authorities have yet to issue a detailed response to the allegations, as the situation remains under close observation following a night marked by confrontations and unrest in the capital.
