On Monday (tomorrow), the next meeting is expected to take place between Albin Kurti, leader of Vetëvendosje, and Lumir Abdixhiku, head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), in an effort to resolve the issue of the presidency.

According to sources from KosovaPress, citing LDK officials, the meeting aimed at reaching a consensus will be held on Monday at 11:00 at the premises of the Assembly of Kosovo. Their last meeting took place on April 6.

Based on a decision by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, members of parliament have until April 28 to elect the country’s new president.

This places the country in the final ten days of the deadline for electing Kosovo’s president.

In the most recent elections held on December 28, Vetëvendosje secured over 51% of the vote, while LDK received around 13%.

The ruling coalition led by Vetëvendosje holds 66 seats—14 short of the number required in the first two rounds of voting to elect the president.

For the past two weeks, the role of acting president has been held by Albulena Haxhiu, following the end of the five-year mandate of Vjosa Osmani.
