At the Basic Court in Pristina, the verdict will be announced today for three defendants in connection with the armed attack against the Kosovo Police in Banjska, Zvečan, which occurred in September 2023.
The verdict session is scheduled to begin at 15:00.
In its closing statement, the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo has requested life imprisonment for the defendants Vladimir Tolić, Blagoje Spasojević, and Dušan Maksimović. All three have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Meanwhile, for Milan Radoičić and 41 other accused individuals who remain at large, the prosecution had requested a trial in absentia. However, the Basic Court in Pristina rejected this request as unfounded.
According to the indictment, the 42 suspects are charged with “committing a terrorist offense” and “serious crimes against the constitutional order and security of the Republic of Kosovo.” Milan Radoičić is also charged with “facilitating and financing terrorism” as well as “money laundering.”
The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo stated that the accused allegedly attempted, through the use of violence with heavy weaponry, to detach the northern part of Kosovo with the aim of uniting it with the Serbia. During the attack, Afrim Bunjaku was killed, while the lives of other police officers and civilians were endangered.
