German journalist Michael Martens from Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) has commented sarcastically on a social media post by an account called “Brave Romania” (“Rumania e Guximshme”), which shared a statement from Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirming that the country will not change its position on the recognition of Kosovo’s independence.
Martens mocked the tone of the post, suggesting that it reflects unnecessary sensitivity over the issue. He wrote that “Brave Romania” appears to be afraid to recognize “small Kosovo,” adding that while it may sound humorous, it reflects a political reality.
“Brave Romania is afraid to recognize small Kosovo. Ridiculous, but a fact,” Martens stated.
Romania remains one of the European Union member states that has not recognized Kosovo’s independence, maintaining its long-standing official position despite ongoing international debates on the issue.
