After almost 36 years of work at the House of Culture in Kosovska Kamenica, Danijela Đekić received a little more than 20,000 dinars in April instead of her full salary, without any explanation. In a statement to Nova, he says that it is about the revenge of the high functionary of the Serbian List, Tanja Aksić Antić, who managed the municipality of Kosovska Kamenica in the Serbian system at the time when Danijela sued them for not paying the jubilee award. By the way, these days, dismissals are being distributed in health and educational institutions in central Kosovo, with a very interesting explanation.

The struggle of Danijela Đekić, a single mother, normally employed at the “Radomir Popović” House of Culture in Kosovska Kamenica, began in February of this year, when instead of an increase, she received a reduced salary.

“I have been employed at the House of Culture for almost 36 years. In January, all public services received an increase of 5.1 percent. In February, instead of an increase, I received a reduced salary. I called the cashier who told me that she had nothing to do with it and that probably someone from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija disputed my salary. She directed me to an employee of the Municipality who told me that the secretary in the Office asked what my title was, coordinator for amateurism. I didn’t invent that title, I got it 30 years ago, and that’s what it says in my first solution,” says Đekić.

All roads lead to:

Nova’s interlocutor says that she then contacted the secretary from the so called Office for “Kosovo and Metohija”, who stated that she could not fight against the recent President of the Municipality, Tanja Aksić Antić, who comes from the ranks of the Serbian List. Then, says Daniela, it became clear to her what it was all about.

Danijela goes back to 2016 when, together with several other workers, she sued the House of Culture for not receiving the jubilee award.

“In 2016, four of us workers at the House of Culture sent requests to receive the jubilee award, which has not been paid to us to this day. We then filed lawsuits within the legal deadline, after which the court ruled in our favor. At the end of last year, I asked a lawyer to separate my case and initiate a new proceeding, now against the Municipality of Kosovska Kamenica, which is the founder of the House of Culture. It was my hearing, I explained that all institutions founded by the Municipality received jubilee awards, except for the House. I submitted all the papers,” says Đekić, who received her last April salary in the amount of 20,036 dinars instead of her full salary.

By the way, in August of last year, an official of the Serbian List, Tanja Aksić Adžić, together with five other members of this party, was dismissed from her duties in the Serbian system by the decision of the Government of Serbia, in order to later appear as a candidate of the Serbian List for the Kosovo elections, after which she became the mayor of Raniluga in the Kosovo system.

Danijela Đekić, a worker at the Cultural Center, says that she still hasn’t received any explanation why her salary was significantly reduced.

“It happened without a solution and without an explanation. It also happened in February when I received a slight reduction. The acting director is in Belgrade, she has not deigned to contact me yet. I will call her again,” says Đekić.

Expulsion from the Viber group, new workers arrived at the Dom kulture last year

Nova’s interlocutor repeats once again that she is convinced that in her case it is a question of revenge against Tanja Aksić, now the mayor of Ranilug.

“We no longer have regular working hours at the House of Culture, but we work when we have different events. Since September, I haven’t been invited to events. Maybe the director did it out of understanding because I was completely alone with my child for four months, but that’s just a possibility, because I was also kicked out of the business Viber group. So I don’t know if it was all planned,” he says.

Since last year, Danijela says that 10 new workers have been employed in the House of Culture.

“Those 10 workers have been working at the House of Culture since last year. The director of the House of Culture would never have done all this on her own, but she has been in the position of acting director of the House of Culture since 2021. All directors listen to what they are told without question, this is the image and opportunity of Kosovska Kamenica,” says Đekić.

Nova.rs tried to get in touch with Marija Kenić, the director of the Cultural Center in Kosovska Kamenica, by phone and text, but until the publication of this text, we did not receive a response. We did not receive any answers from the mayor of Raniluga, Tanja Aksić Antić.

In central Kosovo, layoffs have been pouring in for the past few days

From central Kosovo, i.e. from Gračanica and its surroundings, news has also arrived these days about layoffs in Serbian health and educational institutions.

According to unofficial information, more than 20 people were fired, and they claim that this is due to close ties with the Minister of Communities and Return in the Kosovo Government, Nenad Rašić. Some of them initiated lawsuits against the institutions where they were employed until now. In the explanation of the dismissal of some of them, it is stated that their contract is terminated due to political involvement or even posts on social networks.

Although the Serbian List denies these allegations, seven Serbian directors of schools and hospitals were arrested on Tuesday evening on suspicion of influencing voters’ will to vote.

At the same time, Nenad Rašić, who relies on budget funds and distributes money and building materials to citizens, also uses methods for collecting votes.

As reported by Radio Kim, Rašić recently announced that the Ministry of Communities and Return, which he heads, will allocate 500 euros each to 400 interns, only in the first part of the program. In the meantime, at the session of the Government of Kosovo, a decision was adopted to support another 300 interns. Yesterday, the same ministry announced a public call for applications for the allocation of building materials for the construction of houses or their renovation. Similar pre-election tactics were previously used by the Serbian List, that is, the government in Belgrade offering employment or social assistance to Serbs in Kosovo. On several occasions, a competition for employment in health institutions in Kosovo has been announced.

It seems as if the citizens are between a rock and a hard place and are losing their jobs.

Accusations have come against the official of the Serbian List before

Let’s remind, as Nova previously reported, two opposition politicians from Kosovo, who were candidates for mayor of Ranilug, started a hunger strike in September of last year, after, as they claimed, their salary in the municipality was reduced by more than 90 percent due to political involvement. According to them, Tanja Aksić Antić, from the ranks of the Serbian List, asked them to withdraw from their lists and vote for her party.

All this took place on the eve of local elections in Kosovo in 2025.
