Catalan politician Oriol Junqueras, leader of the Esquerra Republicana party, has said that Spain should recognize Kosovo’s independence, arguing that most European countries have already done so.
Speaking in an interview with Descifrandolaguerra, Junqueras addressed Spain’s longstanding position on Kosovo.
“In the case of Kosovo, certainly, because that is the decision that Europe as a whole has taken. There is only one state that does not recognize it the Spanish state it does not do so because of its prejudices regarding Catalonia,” he said.
When asked about the fact that Romania, Slovakia, and Greece also do not recognize Kosovo, Junqueras responded that the majority of European Union member states recognize Kosovo’s independence.
