Abelard Tahiri of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) said he visited Hashim Thaçi and his fellow former KLA leaders today at the detention facility in The Hague.
Tahiri described the visit as one of many over the past six years, but said that today felt different.
“For six years, they have remained behind those walls, away from their families and their country, while we outside have continued to believe that justice and truth will prevail,” Tahiri wrote.
He said those currently detained in The Hague are people who “gave so much for the freedom we enjoy today.”
With September 16 approaching — the date Tahiri says is expected to mark the end of what he described as a long, prolonged and unjust process — he reflected on his farewell to Thaçi.
“Today, when we said goodbye to the President, I didn’t say ‘goodbye.’”
“I said:
‘See you on September 16. We’re returning to Prishtina together.’”
