EU Ambassador to Kosovo Dirk Schuebel has met with Srpska Lista leader Zlatan Elek to discuss relations between Kosovo’s central institutions and Serb-majority municipalities, as well as the need for the party to take an active role in the Kosovo Assembly.
According to the EU Office in Kosovo, the meeting was part of Schuebel’s ongoing engagement with political parties in Kosovo.
“They discussed relations between central institutions and Kosovo’s Serb-majority municipalities, as well as the need for the SL to actively participate in the Assembly in support of Kosovo’s path toward the EU, despite political differences,” the EU said.
The meeting comes as Kosovo’s institutions face continued challenges in strengthening relations with Serb-majority municipalities and ensuring the effective participation of Kosovo Serb representatives in the country’s political institutions.
The EU has repeatedly emphasized the importance of institutional dialogue, the participation of all communities in Kosovo’s democratic processes and progress on the country’s European path.
