The Hague verdict against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) was among the issues discussed during a meeting between Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in New York.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, Kurti described the verdict against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi as unjust and said that it should be corrected on appeal.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly.
Kurti and Erdoğan also discussed relations between Kosovo and Türkiye, security cooperation and economic development.
Kurti thanked the Turkish president for Türkiye’s support for Kosovo, including cooperation in strengthening the country’s military capabilities and defense industry.
The role of Türkiye in KFOR and its contribution to security and stability in Kosovo were also discussed.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, trade between the two countries has reached approximately $1 billion (around €872 million), while Turkish investments in Kosovo have increased.
The meeting also addressed the new ammunition factory in Gjakova and the Wind Energy Park in Rahovec, projects being developed in cooperation with Turkish companies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to further deepen political, economic and trade relations.
Kurti also invited President Erdoğan to visit Kosovo.
