The British Embassy in Kosovo has marked the third anniversary of the Banjska attack, which resulted in the death of Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku.
In a statement commemorating Bunjaku, the Embassy of the United Kingdom praised the courage and professionalism demonstrated by the Kosovo Police during the attack.
“Three years after the tragic attack in Banjska, we remember Kosovo Police officer Afrim Bunjaku, who lost his life in service to his country,” the Embassy said.
“We honour the courage and professionalism demonstrated by the Kosovo Police in responding to the attack and restoring security, as well as the continued efforts of Kosovo prosecutors to ensure justice is served.”
The British Embassy stressed that accountability remains essential.
“Those responsible, including Milan Radoičić, have still not been brought to justice. We again call on the Serbian authorities to take the necessary steps to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable without further delay,” the Embassy said.
The statement comes three years after the September 24, 2023 attack in northern Kosovo, in which Bunjaku was killed while on duty.
