Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, has paid tribute to Kosovo Police Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku on the third anniversary of his death in the line of duty during the Banjska attack.
In a statement, Sveçla said that three years ago Kosovo faced what he described as “the largest terrorist attack in post-war Kosovo,” which he said was organized and supported in all aspects by Serbia’s state apparatus.
“Three years ago, our Republic faced the largest terrorist attack in post-war Kosovo, organized and supported in every aspect by Serbia’s state apparatus. In defense of legality, the Constitution and the security of our citizens, Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku fell in the line of duty that day,” Sveçla wrote.
Sveçla also praised the actions of the Kosovo Police during the confrontation with the armed group, saying that Kosovo’s institutions defended the country’s territory, its citizens and the constitutional order.
However, he stressed that justice for Bunjaku’s killing has yet to be completed.
“Justice for the killing of Hero Afrim Bunjaku remains incomplete until all the terrorists are arrested and brought before justice, with Milan Radoičić at the head of them,” Sveçla wrote.
The minister said Afrim Bunjaku would always be remembered and honored for his sacrifice.
“We bow with deep respect before his sacrifice, which will remain forever part of our collective memory and a guiding example for the younger generations of our Republic,” Sveçla wrote.
