Tensions escalated outside the Kosovo Assembly on Monday during a protest calling for amendments to the Law on Specialist Chambers.
Several protesters were seen confronting members of the Kosovo Police as the situation became tense. A truck was also brought to the area and positioned near the Assembly in an apparent effort to block access to the building.
Following the incident, one protester said there had been a misunderstanding with the police and explained the reason for placing the truck near the Assembly entrance.
“We came out to do our part, and the police were doing theirs. We had a misunderstanding with the police. The reason for placing the truck is to prevent the deputies from leaving if the law on the Specialist Chambers is not passed,” the protester said.
Demonstrators are demanding that members of the Assembly approve the proposed amendments to the Specialist Chambers legislation.
The protest has also affected access and traffic around the Assembly building, with movement in the area becoming more difficult amid the ongoing demonstration.
