Albania’s National Cybersecurity Authority (AKSK) has said that threatening emails warning of bombs at several public institutions do not pose a security risk, adding that the situation is under control.

In an official statement published on Facebook on Friday, October 9, the authority said its technical teams, working in coordination with the State Police, had analyzed the messages and found no indication of a threat to people’s safety or institutional infrastructure.

According to the AKSK, the emails are part of a coordinated campaign intended to spread disinformation and create chaos. The authority said the campaign follows a pattern observed in the past.

The messages were distributed in bulk to email addresses published on the official websites of central and local public institutions, as well as through other online sources.

The authority stressed that the use of publicly available email addresses does not indicate that the senders had gained access to institutional systems or accounts.

The AKSK advised recipients not to reply to the emails, forward them to others, open any links or attachments, or carry out instructions contained in the messages.

“The situation is under control and, based on the assessment conducted, there is no reason for concern,” the authority said.
