Kosovo Assembly Speaker Albulena Haxhiu has welcomed the government’s decision to establish a working group to provide state support for former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders.

She also said that the Assembly would be part of this effort and that, at its next Presidency meeting, a proposal would be made to delegate a representative to the working group.

“The 16 September verdict was unjust and inaccurate. At this stage, it is essential that the appeal proceedings be supported by a joint state strategy, with coordinated efforts and full institutional backing. The Assembly will be part of this effort. At the next meeting of the Assembly Presidency, we will propose delegating a representative to the working group to contribute institutionally towards ensuring the strongest possible defence during the appeal proceedings,” Haxhiu said, among other things.

The government has established the working group to draft and coordinate a state strategy concerning the appeal proceedings before the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in the case involving the four former KLA leaders.

The group will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Glauk Konjufca.
