Kosovo’s chief negotiator with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, has met with MEP Reuten at the European Parliament in Brussels to discuss Kosovo’s European path and the importance of advancing the country’s EU integration process.

During the meeting, Zulfaj thanked Reuten for his continued engagement and support for Kosovo, particularly regarding its European integration.

Reuten played an important role in Kosovo’s visa liberalisation process in his capacity as the European Parliament’s rapporteur on the matter. The process enabled Kosovo citizens to travel visa-free within the Schengen Area.

Zulfaj stressed that advancing Kosovo’s path towards European Union membership is in the shared interest of both Kosovo and the EU.

He emphasised that the enlargement process must be based on merit, the rule of law and respect for the European Union’s fundamental values, as set out in Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union.

He also underlined the importance of Kosovo’s full alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy as part of efforts to further advance the European integration process.

The meeting in Brussels is part of a series of discussions that chief negotiator Jeton Zulfaj is holding with Members of the European Parliament and representatives of EU institutions, focusing on Kosovo’s path towards European integration.
