“We have a lot of work to do to reassure the American people that yes he is old, but he can win,” she told MSNBC. She said voters’ concerns about Biden’s ability to lead the country are not driving them to vote for Trump.
“They have questions, but they’re standing with Joe Biden,” she added.
At the same time, the Democratic National Committee is expected to meet on Friday to push forward the planned virtual vote before August 7, where the party’s presidential candidate is expected to be nominated. This virtual meeting will be held before the party holds its Convention later in August in Chicago.
A majority of Democrats think the vice president, Kamala Harris, could be a good candidate for president.
According to a poll conducted by the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, six in ten Democrats believe Harris would make a good president. Two in ten Democrats believe she would not make a good president, and another two in ten have no opinion.
Democrats at the highest levels have asked Biden to reconsider his candidacy.
