Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has accepted Fox News’ invitation to a debate with Democratic presidential candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, on September 4.

“The rules will be similar to my debate with Sleepy Joe, who has been terribly treated by his party, but with a full audience,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, referring to President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the race for re-election.

His post was briefly removed before being reposted. However, in the second post, Trump retracted his proposal for a “big” public rally on the same date if Harris “was not willing or able to debate.”

Harris had responded last month that she was “ready” for the debate, after Fox News proposed a presidential debate between her and Trump for September 17.

After Biden withdrew from the presidential race on July 21 and endorsed Harris, Trump stated he would not debate her, as she was not the official candidate.

As evidence of the lack of support, he mentioned that former President Barack Obama had not endorsed her.

However, Obama endorsed Harris the following day, and on Friday, Harris secured the necessary delegate votes to become the Democratic nominee for the November elections.
