The spokesperson for the Government of Kosovo, Perparim Kryeziu, commenting on the EU’s statements that it might intensify measures against Kosovo if it continues with steps that Brussels considers uncoordinated, stated that the measures have been unfair and are not a solution.
“Measures are not the solution. Time has shown that the EU’s measures against Kosovo have been unfair. They continue to be so as long as they are in effect. Adding more would only deepen the injustice,” Kryeziu stated for RTK.
He further criticized the EU for not taking any action against Serbia following the attack in Banjska where a Kosovo police officer was killed.
“On the other hand, the question arises: what measures did the EU take against Serbia, which after the terrorist and paramilitary attack declared a National Day of Mourning for the three terrorists killed in Banjska, whose leader, Milan Radoičić, it shelters and finances?” Kryeziu added.
Describing the closure of Serbian postal offices in the north as a matter of law enforcement, the government spokesperson said that Kosovo needs the support of the EU and the USA.
“We need the support of the EU but also of the United States of America, especially in the field of the rule of law and the respect of agreements reached in Brussels. The closure of nine Serbian Post offices, which have been operating without a license and illegally, is a matter of law enforcement,” he stated.
Kryeziu also noted that the opening of the Ibër Bridge is a matter of law enforcement and respect for agreements reached within the dialogue.
“Meanwhile, the opening of the Mitrovica Bridge over the Ibër River is a matter of full freedom of movement, rule of law, and respect for the agreements made in Brussels back in 2015, as well as a direct contribution to the further integration of our citizens,” he said.
