The Director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Burns, concluded his two-day visit to Kosovo after holding meetings in Pristina with state leaders and the head of Kosovo’s intelligence service.
On the morning of August 23rd, Burns met with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, for about an hour at the Government Building of Kosovo.
Following this meeting, according to the flight tracking website Flightradar, the U.S. military aircraft carrying Burns departed from Pristina International Airport, “Adem Jashari.”
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Kurti was in the United States, where he attended the National Convention of the Democratic Party, hosted by the National Democratic Institute.
He has yet to make a statement regarding his meeting with the highest-ranking U.S. intelligence official.
A day earlier, Burns met in Pristina with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the head of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA), Petrit Ajeti.
President Osmani confirmed the meeting with CIA Director William Burns on August 23rd.
“The alliance with the United States is a guarantee for security, peace, and success,” she wrote on Facebook.
The visit of the CIA Director to Kosovo follows similar visits by the top U.S. intelligence official to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
