The Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, has addressed the provocations Serbia is making towards Kosovo.
He stated that Serbia has violated the agreement on joint management of border crossings, referring to the presence of four members of the Serbian gendarmerie at the border police station in Merdare.
When asked by the media if these threats from Serbia had been communicated to international partners, Sveçla emphasized that Serbia is not prepared for cooperation, despite the agreements it has signed.
“They are violating the agreement on joint management of border crossings. This is not the first time they have breached this agreement, but we hope it will be the last.”
“Of course, we are ready to confront any of their violations and, at the same time, present them to our partners as further evidence that Serbia is not willing to cooperate, despite the agreements it has signed,” Sveçla stated.
Sveçla emphasized that it is very clear that Kosovo is threatened by Serbia’s hegemonic aspirations.
According to him, the entire state apparatus of Serbia is working to fulfill its goals, which are not only unacceptable for Kosovo but also criminal in the reality we face.
Sveçla underscored that Kosovo’s institutions are strengthening every day to push back Serbia’s ambitions at every moment, both now and in the future.
“I am convinced that these provocations will fail. Certainly, they make life more difficult for our citizens, particularly for the Serbian community, but we are capable of facing any challenge, from within or outside,” Sveçla concluded.
