The European Parliament has appointed Estonian MEP Riho Terras as the new rapporteur for Kosovo. Terras, who succeeds German politician Viola von Cramon in this role, is a former military officer who has served in the European Parliament since February 1, 2020.
His extensive background includes serving as the Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces from 2011 to 2018, achieving the rank of General in 2017. In the previous term of the European Parliament, Terras was the head of Estonia’s national delegation for the European People’s Party (EPP) and is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy.
Additionally, other rapporteurs have been named for key Balkan countries: Croatian politician Tonino Picula will report on Serbia, Czech MEP Ondřej Kolář (EPP) on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenian MEP Marjan Šarec (Renew Europe) on Montenegro, Austrian MEP Thomas Waitz (The Greens) on North Macedonia, and Austrian politician Andreas Schieder (Socialists and Democrats) on Albania.
