FIFA and UEFA caused a major scandal during the World Cup qualifiers draw by presenting Kosovo as part of Serbia.
The highly anticipated draw in Zurich was available for live broadcast on FIFA+ and the official YouTube channel.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented the event, before Robert Pires, Gianluca Zambrotta, Rachel Yankey, Ariane Hingst, and Fernando Llorente intervened to assist with the procedures.
However, before the draw took place, the organizers showed a presentation with “factors to consider.”
Here, international relations were mentioned as a factor that could influence which team goes into which group, and a map showed Kosovo as part of Serbia, while Crimea was shown as part of Russia.
Kosovo has been a part of the world football community since 2016, yet FIFA continues to make the same scandalous mistake year after year.
Naturally, reactions have started flooding social media, especially on the platform X (formerly Twitter), as FIFA has offended its member states.
