Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has recalled the infamous “Panda” case in Peja, where six young Serbs were killed in a terrorist attack orchestrated by Serbia. Kurti described this as a deliberate act by Serbia aimed at justifying the genocide in Kosovo.
Speaking about the tragic event, Kurti stated that Serbia killed these young men in an attempt to falsely accuse the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) of the crime, thereby justifying its brutal actions in Kosovo.
He also highlighted the subsequent arrests of over 150 Albanians in Peja by Serbian forces, including figures such as Agron Kollçaku, Behar Bajri, Beqir Loxha, Gazmend Bajrami, Vllaznim Pergjegjaj, and Xhevdet Bajrami, all of whom were subjected to inhumane torture.
“26 years later, Serbia continues to hide the truth about the killing of these young Serbs. Serbia denies the genocide in Kosovo, denies the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, denies the Srebrenica massacre, and also denies the massacre in Reçak. Denying its criminal past and rejecting the independence of Kosovo are closely linked,” Kurti wrote.
In his full post, Kurti further elaborated on the attack, which occurred on December 14, 1998, when Serbian forces executed six young Serbs in a café in Peja. This was part of an attempt to falsely accuse the KLA and provoke anti-Albanian sentiment, ultimately justifying Serbia’s future military actions.
Kurti emphasized the need for confronting the past and achieving justice for the crimes committed by Serbia in Kosovo to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
