Kosovo’s Central Labor Inspectorate has called on employers to implement additional workplace safety measures following forecasts of severe weather expected to affect parts of the country.
In a public appeal issued on Monday, the Inspectorate urged businesses, particularly those operating in high-risk sectors, to inspect work equipment and machinery to help prevent workplace accidents during adverse weather conditions.
Special attention was directed at the construction sector, where employers were advised to verify the technical condition and stability of cranes and other lifting equipment at construction sites before storms arrive.
The appeal follows warnings from the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute, which has forecast local rainfall, thunderstorms, strong winds, and isolated hailstorms during the afternoon and evening hours.
The Labor Inspectorate emphasized that employers have a responsibility to take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and health of workers and minimize the risks posed by severe weather.
Authorities urged companies to remain vigilant and act proactively to protect employees, particularly those working outdoors or in environments exposed to hazardous weather conditions.
