Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reiterated that joining NATO remains a strategic priority for the country, emphasizing its importance for long-term peace and security in the Western Balkans and across Europe.

Kurti made the remarks after meeting an 11-member delegation representing nine countries from the Political Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

In a Facebook post, the prime minister said discussions focused on cooperation and the next steps concerning security, democratic development and strengthening Kosovo’s defense capabilities.

“Membership in NATO is a strategic priority for the Republic of Kosovo, serving lasting peace and long-term security in the Western Balkans and throughout Europe,” Kurti wrote.

According to the prime minister, the meeting also addressed Kosovo’s democratic progress, continued economic development and the security situation in the country and the wider region.

The visit comes as Kosovo continues to pursue closer cooperation with NATO and strengthen its defense and security institutions.
