The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) has provided further details on its decision to suspend Lumturije Vuçetaj, Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja, and prosecutor Arlinda Nallbani-Gacaferri, initiating disciplinary proceedings against both in connection with the case involving the killing of Arlinda Zekaj.

The decisions were taken at an extraordinary meeting of the KPC, which reviewed a request from State Chief Prosecutor Zejnullah Gashi to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the two prosecutors.

According to the Council’s announcement, an investigative panel has also been established to examine the case.

The decisions were based on findings presented in report A.Nr. 379/2026, which was included in the Office of the State Chief Prosecutor’s request to initiate the disciplinary investigation.

The KPC also appointed Valbona Disha-Haxhosaj as acting Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Peja.

The Council said it remained committed to ensuring accountability and strengthening the integrity of Kosovo’s prosecutorial system, emphasizing that all proceedings would be conducted in accordance with applicable legislation.

The suspensions and disciplinary proceedings do not, in themselves, establish individual responsibility or wrongdoing by either prosecutor.
