Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, has deleted a video posted yesterday in which Kosovo was shown as part of Serbia on the European map. The video, which announced Bulgaria and Romania’s accession to the Schengen Zone, sparked significant backlash due to the omission of Kosovo’s representation.

In the video, Von der Leyen used a map that excluded Kosovo, a country that declared independence from Serbia in 2008. This omission caused a stir among politicians and social media users, with many pointing out the oversight.

One of the prominent reactions came from Doris Pack, a German politician, who commented on the video, asking, “Where is the state of Kosovo?” This raised concerns regarding the European Commission’s stance on Kosovo and its international recognition.

Von der Leyen’s team later removed the video, though the reason for its deletion remains unclear. Kosovo, while not yet a member of the European Union, has been recognized by over 100 countries, including a majority of EU member states.

The incident highlights the ongoing sensitivity surrounding Kosovo’s international recognition and the complex diplomatic landscape in the Balkans.
