On the 26th anniversary of journalist Enver Maloku’s assassination, President Vjosa Osmani paid homage to his life and contributions.
Osmani described Maloku as a fearless defender of freedom and democracy, stating, “Enver Maloku was a professional writer, a warrior of free thought, and a man who courageously and devotedly upheld the ideals of liberty, independence, and democracy.”
Legacy of Enver Maloku
Maloku was a close associate of Kosovo’s historic president, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova. Osmani highlighted his pivotal role during turbulent times:
“As a close collaborator of President Rugova, he was a pillar of truthful and unbiased information during dark days when the truth was threatened by violence and oppression. His memory is eternal, and the truth he fought for will endure, especially when justice is served, and the perpetrators are held accountable.”
Tragic Assassination
Enver Maloku was assassinated on the afternoon of January 11, 1999, near his home in the “Kodra e Diellit” neighborhood of Pristina. To date, his killers have not been identified or brought to justice.
Osmani’s Call for Justice
President Osmani emphasized the need for justice in Maloku’s case, ensuring his sacrifice remains a part of Kosovo’s history.
“Glory to the life and work of Enver Maloku!” she concluded.
