A court hearing has been held against Serbian Marko Dantić, who is accused of attacking KFOR in Zvečan on May 29, 2023.
The Prosecutor’s Office recommended that he be sentenced to two years of effective imprisonment for two criminal offenses, and six months which may be replaced with a €9,000 fine.
During the hearing, Judge Valon Kurtaj stated that an agreement had been reached between the prosecutor’s office and the defendant regarding the admission of guilt for the two criminal offenses.
Special Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu stated that with the defendant and his lawyer’s presence, they had reached an agreement for the defendant to admit guilt.
“The defendant entered this agreement voluntarily, and after sufficient consultation with his lawyer, we have reached an agreement for the admission of guilt for these two criminal offenses. For the criminal offense of ‘assaulting an official person in co-perpetration,’ we have recommended an effective two-year prison sentence, which will include the time already served in detention since November 15, 2024. As for the other criminal offense of participation in a crowd and hooliganism, we recommend a six-month prison sentence, which may be replaced with a fine of €9,000,” said the special prosecutor.
Judge Valon Kurtaj confirmed that the agreement was approved, along with the sentencing of the defendant.
Dantić was involved in the attack on KFOR on May 29, 2023.
On that day, about 30 KFOR soldiers were injured while attempting to disperse protesters gathered near the municipal building in Zvečan.
