CMC: 25 Wildfires Recorded in 24 Hours, Only 2 Remain Active

A total of 25 wildfires in open areas were recorded across the country over the past 24 hours, the Crisis Management Center (CMC) announced.

According to the CMC, two fires are currently active, one has been brought under control, while 22 have been completely extinguished.

The active fires are in Gorno Lisice, in the Municipality of Aerodrom, where low vegetation, trees, and corn are burning, and on the outskirts of Kriva Palanka, where a landfill has caught fire.

Meanwhile, the fire above the village of Zelenikovo, where forest and low vegetation were burning, has been brought under control.

Over the past 24 hours, fires were also reported and extinguished in several municipalities in Skopje, including Gazi Baba, Gjorče Petrov, Sopište, Aračinovo, Studeničani, and Karpoš.

Fires were also reported in Novaci, Dolnen, Prilep, Čaška, Veles, Rosoman, Struga, Likovo, Vrapčište, Želino, Gostivar, and Delčevo.

In most cases, low vegetation was affected, while in some areas the fires also spread to forests, trees, waste, and landfills.
