Prime Minister Albin Kurti has not managed to break the record of President Vjosa Osmani in votes in this year’s elections.
According to 78% of the polling stations counted, Kurti received 222,382 votes in these elections.
Osmani continues to remain the most voted person in the history of Kosovo with 300,756 votes in the 2021 elections, when she ran on a joint list with Kurti, with a difference of 78,374 more votes than Kurti received this year.
At that time, Kurti could not be included in his party’s electoral list for the extraordinary parliamentary elections held on February 14 because the Supreme Court had ruled that anyone convicted in the last three years with a final court decision would not be allowed to run in elections.
Albin Kurti was convicted for throwing tear gas in the Kosovo Assembly in 2015.
Despite this, the number 1 spot on the Vetëvendosje list remained empty, and Osmani managed to gather votes by holding the number 2 spot on the list.
Osmani and Kurti signed an agreement in January 2021 to run on a joint list, and they also agreed that Osmani would lead the Presidency and Kurti would lead the Prime Minister’s office.
