The Central Election Commission (KQZ) has commenced the counting process for votes sent from the diaspora. KQZ spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that the counting of ballots from Kosovo’s external voting, including mail-in ballots, is underway at the Central Counting and Results Center (QNR).

On the first day, approximately 30 boxes out of the 178 containing postal ballots were counted. Elezi emphasized that KQZ is adhering to the General Elections Law and related sub-legal acts, ensuring a transparent and accurate vote count process that respects the will of Kosovo’s citizens who participated in the elections.

Elezi noted that KQZ is working to complete the counting of all votes within a few days. After the diaspora votes are counted, the commission will proceed with counting conditional votes and those from persons with special needs. This phase is expected to conclude soon, with final election results to be announced shortly thereafter.

The total number of Kosovo citizens registered to vote abroad was 104,924, with 20,324 registered to vote at diplomatic missions, of which 15,352 voted. Meanwhile, 84,600 citizens were registered to vote via mail.

According to KQZ data, 12,801 ballots from conditional voting locations are also undergoing verification, which includes comparing them with the list of regular voters. Additionally, 2,597 votes from people with special needs are included in this verification process.
