Elon Musk has attacked American Senator Mark Kelly, labeling him a “traitor” following his recent visit to Ukraine.
This sparked a heated debate between the billionaire and the Democratic politician in the US.
Mark Kelly, a senator from Arizona and former US Navy fighter pilot, made his third visit to Kyiv this month, where he met with wounded soldiers and Ukrainian officials.
After returning, he wrote on platform X: “What I saw confirmed that we cannot abandon the Ukrainian people.”
He also called for security guarantees for Ukraine in any peace agreement.
“No agreement can be made at the expense of Ukraine’s security,” Kelly said.
Elon Musk, who also leads the Department of Government Efficiency under the Trump administration, reacted sharply on X.
“You’re a traitor,” Musk directed at the senator.
Kelly responded: “Traitor? Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a core principle of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those who understand. You’re not a serious person.”
The clash occurred after a cyberattack on the X platform, which Musk said was organized from Ukrainian territory.
