French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need for France to address both geopolitical threats and domestic terrorist threats, rejecting claims that he is exaggerating the risk posed by Russia.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new headquarters of the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI) in Saint-Ouen, Macron responded to critics questioning the Russian threat. He pointed to recent events as evidence that such concerns are justified.

Macron’s remarks come amid a debate with far-right leader Marine Le Pen, who argues that France’s primary threat is Islamic fundamentalism rather than Russia. The French president, however, insisted that a strong nation must respond to all security challenges simultaneously.
