European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen issued a joint statement welcoming the news from Saudi Arabia about a proposed ceasefire in Ukraine.
“This is a positive development that could be a step toward a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace for Ukraine,” the leaders said.
They also emphasized that the EU is ready to play its full role, alongside its partners, in the upcoming peace negotiations.
