The shawl of former Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova now belongs to former President of Albania, Sali Berisha.
This gift was given to Berisha by Adnan Merovci, a close collaborator of the late President Ibrahim Rugova.
In a post on the social media platform Facebook, Berisha expressed that this is the most touching gift of his life. “The most touching gift of my life. Adnan Merovci, a close collaborator of President Rugova, gave me the shawl of my immortal friend. This was the most touching gift of my life. Thank you very much, Adnan,” Berisha wrote on Facebook.
Meanwhile, Adnan Merovci, the head of protocol during Rugova’s time, had previously said that a vest and a shawl belonging to Rugova, as a result of travels, had remained with him.
It is worth mentioning that former President Ibrahim Rugova always wore a shawl around his neck during every important meeting and historic moment for Kosovo, both before, during, and after the war.
