The newly elected deputies from the February 9 parliamentary elections will reconvene tomorrow for the 19th attempt to constitute the ninth legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo. The continuation of the constitutive session is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
The 18th attempt, held on Monday, ended in failure. Chairperson Glauk Dehari once again called on parliamentary political parties that have not yet proposed deputies for the electoral commission responsible for electing the Speaker of the Assembly through secret ballot—namely PDK, LDK, the Serbian List, and the AAK-Social Democratic Initiative coalition—to submit their nominations. However, these parties did not present any proposals.
As a result, the composition of the commission, with members proposed in previous sessions, was put to a vote. Out of 53 deputies who participated, 52 voted in favor, one voted against, and no abstentions were recorded. Chairperson Dehari concluded that there was no quorum, and therefore the session was suspended once again.
The process of constituting the ninth legislature began on April 15, and the deadlock has now entered its second month.
