The administration of President Donald Trump has made an unprecedented move against Harvard University by revoking its right to admit international students starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, Rks News reports.

The decision, issued by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, accuses the prestigious university of “inciting violence, antisemitism, and cooperating with the Chinese Communist Party,” according to Reuters.

As part of this directive, current international students enrolled at Harvard have been ordered to transfer to other U.S. universities or face losing their legal immigration status.

Harvard University reacted with outrage, calling the decision “illegal and a political vendetta” against an institution that, according to them, refused to hand over specific data on student visa holders demanded by the Department of Homeland Security.

This drastic step is expected to trigger legal battles and fuel debate over academic freedom, immigration, and the politicization of higher education in the United States.
