Kallas: EU Will Review Suspension of Partnership with Israel over Gaza Situation

If Israel does not “improve the situation” in Gaza, the European Union will discuss “further measures” to suspend its association agreement with Tel Aviv at its upcoming meeting in July, said EU High Representative Kaja Kallas during a highly anticipated press briefing with her EU counterparts in Brussels.

Kallas made these remarks just days after presenting ministers with an eight-page review of the EU-Israel Association Agreement. The review stated there were “indications” that Israel may be violating its human rights obligations under Article 2 of the agreement.

“Our first goal is to change the situation on the ground. If the situation does not improve, then we can discuss further measures and return to this in July,” Kallas said.
