French President Emmanuel Macron has reacted to Iran’s attack on US military bases in Qatar by calling for an immediate de-escalation of tensions in the region.
In a post on the platform X, Macron expressed France’s solidarity with Qatar and urged a return to diplomatic talks.
“I express France’s solidarity with Qatar, which was struck by Iran on its territory. I remain in close contact with the country’s authorities and our partners in the region,” Macron wrote.
He stressed the need for maximum restraint from all parties involved in the conflict.
“I call on all sides to exercise maximum restraint, reduce tensions, and return to the negotiating table. This spiral of chaos must come to an end,” the French President emphasized.
Macron’s statement comes at a critical and dangerous moment for stability in the Middle East, as fears grow of further escalation between Iran and US allies in the region.
