The Chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, paid tribute today to the Bytyqi brothers—Agron, Ylli, and Mehmet—three ethnic Albanian men from Prizren with American citizenship who were executed in Serbia in July 1999.

In a Facebook post, Haradinaj recalled the brothers as courageous patriots who gave up the American dream to join the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) at a critical moment for their homeland.

“Agron, Ylli, and Mehmet Bytyqi, U.S. citizens, left behind the American dream to join the KLA in its most decisive hour. They fought with honor for the freedom of Kosovo, showing unmatched bravery, but were cruelly executed by the criminal hand of the Serbian state,” Haradinaj wrote.

He further condemned the Serbian state for not only executing the brothers but also continuing to deny justice and glorify war criminals, including those suspected of involvement in the brothers’ killings.

“The Serbian state, besides executing them, continues to ignore the crimes and decorate war criminals, among them those suspected of murdering the Bytyqi brothers,” he added.

Haradinaj also expressed solidarity with the Bytyqi family—father Ahmet, mother Bahrije, and the former KLA comrades of the “Atlantic” battalion.

“Today and every day, we share in the sorrow and pride of the Bytyqi family. Their pain is our pain. The pride in their sons is pride for our entire nation. Glory to their lives and legacy!”
