The Organization of War Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-KLA), alongside the Association of War Invalids and the Association of Martyrs’ Families, has issued a strong condemnation following the presence in Kosovo of Igor Popović, Assistant Director of Serbia’s so-called “Office for Kosovo.” Popović is known for his offensive stances toward the KLA and Kosovo’s liberation struggle
“Milošević’s Dependents’ Mentality”
In their reaction, KLA veterans characterized Popović’s actions as the “mentality of Milošević’s dependents,” emphasizing that Serbia’s current president, Aleksandar Vučić, as a former minister of that regime, continues to represent the same political approach.
“Any attempt to provoke, to tarnish the KLA, and to use Kosovo’s territory for anti-national propaganda is unacceptable and must be decisively stopped,” the statement asserted.
The organizations representing war categories stressed that they will not remain silent in the face of insults that undermine the sacrifice for freedom and the blood of Kosovo’s martyrs and heroes.
Popović Arrested and Awaits Expulsion
Gazeta Express, citing its sources, reported that Igor Popović has been arrested by Kosovo Police. His arrest came after he delivered a speech today in Rahovec, during which he allegedly used harsh language against the KLA, labeling it a terrorist organization.
“Igor Popović, Assistant Director of the so-called ‘Office for Kosovo in the Serbian government,’ held a speech today in Rahovec, during which he used harsh language against the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), labeling it as a terrorist organization. With his statements, he incited inter-ethnic hatred and division in Kosovo,” sources said.
It has also been announced that Popović is expected to be expelled from Kosovo and prohibited from re-entry.
“Following the reporting of the case by security and intelligence institutions, he has now been arrested by the KP and will be expelled from Kosovo and prohibited from entering Kosovo,” the sources added.
