Tomorrow, citizens across 18 municipalities in Kosovo will return to the polls to elect their new mayors in the second round of local elections. Meanwhile, the Central Election Commission (CEC) began distributing electoral materials early this morning in preparation for Sunday’s vote.
The runoff elections will take place in the following municipalities: Pristina, Prizren, Gjakova, Gjilan, Dragash, Kaçanik, Klinë, Fushë Kosovë, South Mitrovica, Obiliq, Rahovec, Peja, Suharekë, Viti, Vushtrri, Junik, Mamushë, and Kllokot.
The first round of local elections was held on October 12, but no candidate in these 18 municipalities secured the required majority, prompting a second-round vote.
The CEC has confirmed that technical preparations are nearing completion, ensuring that all polling materials reach local election commissions on time. Additionally, at 11:00 a.m. today, the CEC will hold a meeting to review the Operational Plan for tomorrow’s election day, focusing on logistics and security measures.
Tomorrow’s runoff is expected to be a key test for local governance and voter turnout, particularly in major cities like Pristina and Prizren, where the competition remains tight.
