A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck Japan, prompting a tsunami warning for Iwate Prefecture.
The city of Ofunato has issued an evacuation order for 6,138 people in 2,825 households living in coastal areas. Other municipalities, including Kamaishi, Otsuchi, and Rikuzentakata, have also urged residents to evacuate immediately.
The tsunami warning predicts waves of up to 1 meter.
So far, authorities have not reported any injuries.
